Case-Studies

VR eliminates the medium of learning, allowing us to have first hand experiences that would be difficult or even impossible to have in the real world. Below are examples of how VR is currently being used and what makes it effective

Education

Virtual Reality is fun, it's interesting and most importantly it's new.

The best way to engage students is to teach them with or about something they are interested in.

Virtual Reality can increase student's awareness on topics such as history in other countries, providing context to help students further explore their education.

Emotional Intelligence

Several studies have proven that VR can directly increase emotional intelligence and empathy in the brain.

In 1000 cuts journey, users are thrust into an African American's life to provoke understanding a small portion of microagressions that minority communities can be subject to in America.

VR has also been used to give the user greater understanding of environment issues such as oil spills and coral reef damage. This works by showing users issues that for most of us are out of sight and out of mind.

Team Building

VR is a fun way for team members all over the world to connect. The possibilities of this are being explored at many corporations with the only main downside being the price for the employees who do not have virtual reality equipment.Over the past few years meeting in person has been difficult, and online calls are not very personal so teams look to virtual reality to  connect with each other.

Skill Simulation

Hazardous situations can be experienced in a safe way that still provides natural feelings of danger and trains people to work effectively despite the fear of being harmed.

VR can also simulate face to face confrontations such as conflicts in the workplace and job/college interviews. And has been used by the NYPD to simulate handling of active shooters.
